So, as you all may be aware, Adam Giambone, TTC Chairman, is running for Mayor of Toronto. What are your opinions of him, does he have potential, or is Mayor just not for him? He’s young, has accomplished a lot for being only 33, educated and has good experience with being in leadership roles, so do you prefer some fresh blood in City Hall for change? What do you say?

Oh dear, it was supposed to be a pleasant interview Sunday with city councillor Adam Giambrone before Monday’s announcement he’s running for mayor. Instead, it appears to be going off the rails – if you’ll excuse a transit reference.
“You’ve got to be careful … Take a look at the structure of the commission and see what the chair of the TTC does,” he cautions. “The chair of the TTC is chair of the board of commissioners … The commission is ultimately responsible for the policy; it hires the chief general manager and the chief general manager and staff are responsible for operations.”
So you’re saying you’re not responsible?
“I didn’t say I wasn’t responsible, but operations are generally under the purview of the chief general manager,” he replies, taking a sip of coffee in a crowded city café.
