CTYA Theme Song – Contest

Thaalam 2011, an inter-university/college dance competition, will be hosted by the Arts and Culture Council of Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) on Saturday June 19, 2011 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The dance competition will be an event uniting youth across Canada, providing the youth with a platform to express their talents as well as the Tamil culture to the Canadian society.

One of the many events that will be taking place throughout the upcoming months in recognition of Thaalam 2011 is the ‘CTYA Theme Song Contest’. The contest will provide the youth with an opportunity to express their musical talents.

The winning composition will be subject to approval by the Board of Directors of CTYA as the official Theme Song representing Tamil youth in Canada.

The winning artists will be rewarded complimentary tickets (maximum of 5, strictly for the artists) to Thaalam 2011 and be allowed 12 minutes to perform their compositions on stage.

Who Can Enter?

As CTYA serves the youth population of Canada, all individuals, between the ages of 13 and 30 may enter this competition. Submissions can be made individually or as a group.

Deadline for Entry

All entries for the CTYA Theme Song Competition must be submitted no later than 6:00pm on Saturday, May 21, 2011. Pre-arrangements should be made with Arts and Culture Council of CTYA by phone before submitting an electronic copy.  A hard copy of the composition (CD copy) and song lyrics must be mailed to the following address no later than the deadline.

Guidelines

  1. Each applicant can submit only one song composition.
  2. Compositions are to be between 1 to 2 minutes in duration
  3. THEME: the composition must contain an inspirational message for the Tamil youth in Canada.  For more information regarding CTYA please visit www.ctya.org
  4. Lyrics must not contain any inappropriate language (discriminatory, harassing in nature, offensive). If it is believed that such language is used, the composition will be disqualified from the competition.
  5. Any genre of music will be acceptable.
  6. Language: preferable to include Tamil, English and French
  7. Winners of the competition will be determined through voting via facebook.
  8. The winning composition will be subject to approval by CTYA’s Board of Directors as the official theme music for Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance and will be used in CTYA’s promotional material.
  9. The Artist(s) warrants that he/she is the sole creator of his/her entry (the “Theme Song”), and that the Theme Song does not infringe any existing third party copyright. Upon submission of the Theme Song to the Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (“CTYA”), the Artist(s) grants full property rights of the Theme Song over to the CTYA. For further clarification, the Artist acknowledges that CTYA has the right to reproduce the Theme Song in whole or in part, and to display the Theme Song to the public in audio, video, and/or through any other digital forms, whether or not in combination with the works of others.
