Review by: Mithilah Mahendran
One of the most celebrated books by a South Asian writer, and rightly so. It is a package uncovering all of man’s evils. In a single book, Roy attempts to fight the caste system, give a voice for women’s rights, and save the mental health of fragile children. South Asians will find the events typical for India; the brilliance is in the way Roy dictates the story. If you have any interest in appreciating creativity, you will read her paragraphs and be amazed at the writer’s gift of portrayal.
