A single second of serenity
The chance I got to smile
already my life’s worthy of living for awhile
I’ve smelled roses and jasmine, all kinds of flowers
had the privilege of dancing through streets as it showered
I have friends who are family and shoulders to cry on
hands to wipe away tears, and a lap to lie on
I know how to care, and what it feels like to be cared for
I know whats it like to be heard seen and un-ignored
And I’ve been blessed with a purpose, something worth fighting for
without falling into the same ignorant uniformed norm
I’am a privilege
I’am an opportunity
I’am the roots of success, if success were a tree
I’am the wings of freedom and the sound of peace
I’am the breath of wind, and the moisture in rain
If Life Were a Kingdom, I’am it’s King
my tears were not painful
my scars did not kill
for I still breathe in the agony
from the scent of blood spilled
I know of life that had not seen sun
I know of life that had no family
I know of life that fasted without purpose..
Because food, there simply wasn’t any
I know of life in shackles of death
tortured and slaughtered before permanent rest.
I know of eyes so innocent, that have only shed tears
I know of strength non-existent in life that’s only known fears
I hesitate in my privilege and opportunity wanting to share
I’ve got more than I deserve, more than enough to spare
And we could ALL give and feed if we chose to care
Im filthy rich on passions
because I can WALK, because I can REACH
because I can close my eyes unhungry and sleep
Im fortunate by luck to belong in such luxury
I’ve got no complaints, when people have it worse
I wish I could give more to those under such curse
my heart breaks to the sound of a child
that last cry before death, just seconds from birth
and I become one of the most privileged people to exist
for simply knowing a Smile’s worth
