“THINK GLOBAL, ACT LOCAL!”

“THINK GLOBAL, ACT LOCAL!”A message from CTYA.

Being able to vote is a privilege that not all people have.

As a Canadian citizen, every individual has specific rights and privileges. One of the rights we have are, democratic rights, which includes the right to vote.  With all these rights and privileges, we also have an important responsibility. Every citizen has the responsibility to participate in the democratic process. In Canada, and around the world, several people had to fight for their rights to vote such as women, Aboriginals and minority groups. Now every Canadian citizen over the age of 18 has the right to vote. With the ability to vote, ordinary citizens can make a difference that can have a lasting impact in their local community, country and the world.

What you should do:

  • Become informed about the parties that are running in your area.
  • Educate yourself and others about the various platforms and ideologies of each party on important issues.
  • Decide what issues are most important to you and your community
  • Most importantly VOTE on MAY 2ND, 2011

Slogan

Please copy and paste this into your status if you know someone who does not realize the importance of voting. A vote sends a message about the issues you think are important. A vote holds your local and national leaders responsible for the decisions they make. On Monday May 2nd 2011 I will exercise my right to vote and I hope you will do the same!” – CTYA
